Coronavirus COVID-19 Action Plan:
Ensuring Workplace Health and Safety

Safety is our highest priority and we are actively monitoring developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We have measures in place to ensure we continue to serve our customers in a way that is safe for them and for our employees, and are committed to serving the needs of our customers while also having the privilege and responsibility of providing an essential service during these uncertain times.

Below are the new steps that our team will take to keep themselves and your employees safe while performing testing in the age of COVID-19. While many of the below steps are a normal part of how our technicians operate to keep our equipment and test area clean and safe, we have implemented several additional steps in our process that are meant to help control the spread of COVID-19.

First and foremost, we follow CDC Guidelines for Critical Infrastructure Employees for all of our field technicians. We ask that any of your employees that are showing symptoms corresponding to COVID-19 infections have their required testing performed at a later date and recommend that they be sent home. We follow the same protocol for any of our employees who have had close contact with a person with Laboratory-Confirmed COVID-19 or Symptomatic People Under Investigation for COVID-19, or themselves are showing symptoms of a COVID-19 infection and require them to self-quarantine for at least 14 days and until their symptoms have passed based on CDC guidelines.

Safety and Sanitary Measures for On-site Audiometric Hearing Testing:

  • We perform all audiometric hearing testing in a room of your choosing at your facility. We request a room that allows us to comply with social distancing guidelines as closely as we can. This includes a 6 foot space between employees. Due to the need for our technician to work with employees at different points during the test, it will be likely that your employees and our technician will not be able to maintain 6 feet distance during the entire test, however our technician will limit close contact as much as possible.

  • We sanitize all test areas between testing groups with disinfecting cleaner on all surfaces touched by employee including iPad, wires, stylus, pens, chairs, desk surfaces and outer portions of headsets and wiping each surface with clean paper towel.

  • Install HygenX Sanitary Headphone Covers that are replaced after each use.

  • Any employee reporting for testing that is displaying signs of illness will be asked to take their testing at a later date. Retesting will be the responsibility of the employer.

  • Our technicians wear gloves at all times and replace them frequently throughout the day.

  • Our technicians wear proper PPE including an N95 respirator that has been fitted to their face while working at customer sites.

Safety and Sanitary Measures for On-site Respirator Fit Testing:

  • Our team utilizes TSI PortaCount respirator fit test devices while performing Quantitative respirator fit testing. The PortaCount is used for fit testing across industry and regularly at hospitals worldwide. This is the preferred choice for fit testing elastomeric half face and full face respirators during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Our team performs N95 fit tests qualitatively as this allows for reuse of the respirator by your employees while N95 supply is low.

  • We perform all respirator fit testing in a room of your choosing at your facility.

  • We sanitize all test areas between testing groups with disinfecting cleaner on all surfaces touched by employee including:

    • For Qualitative Fit Tests: Fit test hoods and nebulizers

    • For Quantitative Fit Tests: PortaCount, twin tubing, mask adapter, wires, stylus, pens, chairs, desk surfaces and wiping each surface with clean paper towel.

  • We will not fit test employees with a mask used by another employee even if “sanitized” between uses. All employees must be tested on their own respirator or a brand new respirator in unopened manufacturer packaging.

  • Any employee with facial hair that interferes with the sealing surface of the respirator will not be able to be tested. While our technicians normally carry shaving cream and disposable razors, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will no longer be providing either of these for employees to use for the foreseeable future. Employees reporting to testing with facial hair that in any way interferes with the sealing surface of the respirator, will be asked to shave prior to testing.
